IOC and China Olympics In Lose/Lose Situation With Flame of Shame World Tour

From the lighting of the Olympic Torch, through London, on into France, and already here in America, the Flame of Shame World Tour has been a disaster for the IOC, and for the Chinese Olympics as protestors have successfully stolen the show and focused the world's news spotlight on China's horrid Human Rights Abuses, their enslavement via force of the Tibetan people.

Arriving with NO FAN FARE, the torch is hidden away in San Francisco as security attempts to figure out this morning/afternoon's Flame of Shame visit to America, attempts to keep protestors from again stopping the flame...in some ways, the Students for a Free Tibet already won with their BRILLIANT Golden Gate Bridge Event before the Flame of Shame ever touched American soil!

If I were the protesters, I'd have the bridge from Oakland/Berkley covered, have massive crowds at the Ferry from Sausilito, the ability to converge on the Golden Gate Bridge covered, and be prepared to RUSH protesters into the Pier 39 Giradeli Square areas almost instantly, and then cover the area down by the Embarkedero's, especially close to the MAJOR hotel, and look for the city to attempt the event EARLIER in the day to catch everyone SLEEPING. In the meantime, give some consideration to trapping the flame in San Francisco...if they brought the flame into San Francisco, they have to get it back over the bridge and onto the airplane don't they?

After tomorrow's event the IOC is going to make a decision on the Flame of Shame moving forward, and the beauty is, both the IOC and the Chinese Olympics are in a Lose/Lose situation. Can the rest of the world stops, the protestors and Tibet win as the IOC and China will have capitulated to the protesters...continue the world wide Flame of Shame Tour, and the protests will esculate at each and every stop, with the attempt to carry the Flame of Shame through Tibet likely to be a public relations nightmare for the IOC and China...add to this the very real chance that you can bank on the Olympics being DISTURBED NOW at every step of the event, and the IOC might be better off cancelling the Olympics in China all together.

IOC considers abandoning torch relay's international route

The International Olympic Committee said Tuesday it is considering whether to abandon the international portion of the Beijing torch relay in the wake of violent protests in London and Paris.

An IOC official, Director General Urs Lacotte, also said the Olympic organization has been pressuring the Beijing Organizing Committee to redraw the torch relay to limit the potential for violence.

The IOC will step in, Lacotte said, the first time a torchbearer is injured or protests become unmanageable - that is the limit.

"In London, where the torchbearer was accosted by a protester, well, that was very near the limit," he said.

On Monday torch relay organizers in Paris were forced to cut the relay short after protesters repeatedly tried to interfere along the route. Officials extinguished the torch at least three times and moved it along the route within the safety of a bus.

Now, the IOC is holding its collective breath as it awaits the Wednesday start of the San Francisco tour, an event that protesters have vowed to disrupt. On Monday protesters scaled the Golden Gate Bridge and unfurled a large pro-Tibet banner.

IOC president Jacques Rogge condemned the protests in London and Paris, which were organized by pro-Tibet supporters and human rights activists.

Rogge confirmed the executive board will review the torch relay when it meets Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Olympic torch was burning bright in San Francisco Tuesday, hidden away in what officials call a "secure" facility, out of the reach of pro-Tibet protesters and human rights advocates.

"We treated it like a head of state visit," airport spokesman Mike McCarron told the San Francisco Examiner.

The flame arrived from France before dawn Tuesday on a specially chartered Air China jet. There were no protesters nearby as it was whisked away to its hidden location, usually a hotel room guarded by Olympic staff.

The GREAT China Summer Olympics are OFFICIALLY A DISGRACE, the oppressors of that backward nation brutally beating Tibetans, trying to force them into submission just in time for the Summer games has backfired as protestors the world over have ruined the Torch Relay with all signs pointing to protests getting louder and more successful at each successive stop along the route...China's plan...try to get world sympathy for their OPPRESSIVE NATION by using a CRIPPLE in Jin Jing, the third torchbearer in the FAILED Paris leg of the "Relay of Shame" torch toss. Have the heads of government in China no PRIDE? How low will they stoop to save face if they are willing to use a CRIPPLE in a wheelchair in their Propaganda Campaign?

Jin Jing from Shanghai should be ASHAMED OF HERSELF for participating in the torch relay. As a former athlete, as a ROLE MODEL she should take a stand in favor of human rights for those in Tibet, but instead SOLD OUT to party insiders for a few moments of fleeting fame carrying the torch in Paris...in short, she got what she deserved when protestors tried to extinguish the flame.

Look for the Chinese to start events EARLY to avoid protestors so they can pump out PROPAGANDA about how well recieved the China Torch Event was here in America...here is a clue CHINA...we don't want you here, and think Goerge Bush is a pussy if he attends the opening event for the Olympics. Couple points...one torch bearer has decided NOT to carry the torch. Further, China flew in very early in the morning because they have no spine, could not face protestors. Well, that flame has to go back to the airport, doesn't it?

(SAN FRANCISCO, April 7) – At 6:00 p.m. in Paris Monday evening, fans waved goodbye to the Olympic torch. After a short but sweet final ceremony, the sacred flame hopped on the chartered Air China flight to its next destination, an ocean away. The sixth stop of the global journey will take the sacred flame to its only stop in North America, San Francisco, California.

Relay Route

At 1:00 p.m. on April 9, California time, the sacred flame will start its tour of the famous American city.

Starting at McCovey Cove, the torch relay route extends a total of about 6 miles. In about an hour and a half, the sacred flame is expected to tour Third Street, hit the Embarcadero, journey to Jefferson Street, be carried through Hyde Street, be taken to Beach Street, and then to Polk Street. From there, the Olympic torch will continue on to Bay Street then re-enter the Embarcadero, finally ending at Justin Herman Plaza, where it will be sent off with a concluding ceremony signaling the end of the relay run in North America.

Torch will not pass through Chinatown

Although fans were quite enthusiastic about having the Olympic torch pass through the city which is so heavily populated by Chinese-Americans, after careful consideration, planners decided not to have the relay route journey through San Francisco's historic Chinatown. Because of the expected large numbers of people that will come out to see the flame, organizers were worried about safety issues while the torch was being carried down the narrow streets.

Jin Jing, a Chinese torchbearer, said the disruptions by some separatists were an insult to the athletes and undermines the spirit of the Olympics.

"I despise them", said Jin, who carried the torch on a wheelchair.

However, she said she was encouraged when she saw many people, including Chinese students, waving Chinese flags to cheer her along the way.

Free Tibet Protestors Must Attack Van

On CNN they are making an interesting point...the flame being carried by the runners is symbolic, the real flame safely tucked inside the bus/van...that means, protestors MUST lay seige to the Bus/van if they are going to extinquish the Olympic flame! That in some ways make it an even easier target, as Protestors only need to stop the bus/van to gain access to it. Short of a major war between police and protestors, should be fairly easy once the bus/van is stopped to bust open the doors and cease the Olympic Flame, holding it hostage or extinquishing it in the name of Tibet.

Should Protestors Take EXTREME Measures To Douse Olympic Torch?

The Tainted Olympic Torch is winding its way through London and the UK as this blog is being written. Unsuccessful attempts have been made to extinquish the flame, put out the Olympic torch as debate about athletes participating in the Olympics rages on. They should not participate, but their personal GREED drives them to perform, human rights be damned.

I take it all a step further...all nations of the world should immediately withdraw their teams from the Olympics, boycott the summer games, deny the oppressive, manipulative Chinese Government their great coming out party. Further, I pose the questions, should human rights activists take EXTREME measures to douse the flame, including if necessary mass violence and overwhelming force?

Successfully stopping the flame would be almost as good as stopping the Olympics...is the future of Tibet worth such a drastic action on the part of those who normally use peaceful protest to make their point...I would say yes, that whatever force is necessary to stop the flame should be employed at every step of the journey, believe that only mass rioting on the part of mankind will get governments to take the only right action, which is boycotting of the event. Dousing the Olympic flame will be an event seen around the world, and BRING GREAT SHAME to the people of China.
